Tutte's 5-flow conjecture for highly cyclically connected cubic graphs
نویسنده
چکیده
In 1954, Tutte conjectured that every bridgeless graph has a nowherezero 5-flow. Let ω be the minimum number of odd cycles in a 2-factor of a bridgeless cubic graph. Tutte’s conjecture is equivalent to its restriction to cubic graphs with ω ≥ 2. We show that if a cubic graph G has no edge cut with fewer than 5 2ω − 1 edges that separates two odd cycles of a minimum 2-factor of G, then G has a nowhere-zero 5-flow. This implies that if a cubic graph G is cyclically n-edge connected and n ≥ 52ω − 1, then G has a nowhere-zero 5-flow.

A note on Fouquet-Vanherpe’s question and Fulkerson conjecture
The excessive index of a bridgeless cubic graph $G$ is the least integer $k$, such that $G$ can be covered by $k$ perfect matchings. An equivalent form of Fulkerson conjecture (due to Berge) is that every bridgeless cubic graph has excessive index at most five. Clearly, Petersen graph is a cyclically 4-edge-connected snark with excessive index at least 5, so Fouquet and Vanherpe as...
متن کاملNowhere-Zero 5-Flows On Cubic Graphs with Oddness 4
Tutte’s 5-Flow Conjecture from 1954 states that every bridgeless graph has a nowhere-zero 5-flow. In 2004, Kochol proved that the conjecture is equivalent to its restriction on cyclically 6-edge connected cubic graphs. We prove that every cyclically 6-edge-connected cubic graph with oddness at most 4 has a nowhere-zero 5-flow.
متن کاملUniquely Edge-3-Colorable Graphs and Snarks
A cubic graph G is uniquely edge-3-colorable if G has precisely one 1-factorization. It is proved in this paper, if a uniquely edge-3-colorable, cubic graph G is cyclically 4-edgeconnected, but not cyclically 5-edge-connected, then G must contain a snark as a minor. This is an approach to a conjecture that every triangle free uniquely edge-3-colorable cubic graph must have the Petersen graph as...
متن کاملTutte's Edge-Colouring Conjecture
Tutte made the conjecture in 1966 that every 2-connected cubic graph not containing the Petersen graph as a minor is 3-edge-colourable. The conjecture is still open, but we show that it is true in general provided it is true for two special kinds of cubic graphs that are almost planar.
متن کاملNonhamiltonian 3-Connected Cubic Planar Graphs
We establish that every cyclically 4-connected cubic planar graph of order at most 40 is hamiltonian. Furthermore, this bound is determined to be sharp and we present all nonhamiltonian such graphs of order 42. In addition we list all nonhamiltonian cyclically 5-connected cubic planar graphs of order at most 52 and all nonhamiltonian 3-connected cubic planar graphs of girth 5 on at most 46 vert...
